    Music Ministry

HEART AND SOUL
Our youth choir, grades six through twelve, presents contemporary Christian music using choral “trax” accompaniment.  Our youth share their musical praise in both worship services the first Sunday of each month and are involved in the seasonal presentations of the Festival Choir. They are also the worship/music leaders for Youth Sundays which happen on any 5th Sunday month.  Heart and Soul rehearsals are held in the Choir room (North Hall) Sunday evenings at 6:15pm.

CHILDREN'S CHOIR

CHERUB CHOIR
This music ministry is available to children age four (by September 1st) through first grade.   They rehearse on Wednesday evenings at 6:00pm in the Adult Sunday School room (North Hall). They present their musical offering in both worship services the second Sunday of each month.

CHILDREN’S CHOIR
This music ministry is available to children in grades second through fifth. They rehearse on Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm in the Adult Sunday School room (North Hall).  They present their musical offering in both worship services the fourth Sunday of each month.

The children in these choirs are afforded the opportunity to play basic rhythm instruments, participate in small ensemble units, perform solos, and share hand motions or sign language in their presentations.  Their goals are to share their love of Christ with the congregation during their musical praise, learn to read/memorize and appreciate music, and to actively take part in the worship experience.

Choir Director: Chantel Hassinger

ADULT CHOIR
The Adult choir prepares and presents various styles of musical offerings to our Lord on the first Sunday of each month at the 10:30 worship service September through June.  Rehearsals are held Wednesdays at 7:00 pm in the choir room (North Hall).  Although our membership requirement is ninth grade at a minimum, there is no upper age limit.  Our goals are to: 1) provide quality musical praise in support of the overall worship experience that brings our congregation into a close meaningful relationship with our Lord; 2) provide an opportunity for church members and friends to fellowship in times of preparation and presentation of musical offerings; and 3) take our God-given gifts beyond the walls of our church into our community expressing our love of Jesus Christ.

Choir Director: Carol Bostdorf

FUTURE MUSICAL OFFERINGS
As the music ministry grows at Halifax, we look forward to realizing a senior choir for persons who prefer a more comfortable paced rehearsal and presentation schedule, bell/tone chime choirs for all ages, and two additional praise teams.  We ask that all congregational members and friends of the congregation be prayerfully considering these new and exciting musical offerings.

BELL CHOIR
Our 3 Octave Bell Choir consists of members (grade 9 and up) who may have some music knowledge and are able to count to the beat.  They perform the 3rd Sunday of each month, in both worship services September through May.  Rehearsals are Sunday evenings @ 6:30pm in the Bell choir room (North Hall).

TONE CHIMES CHOIR
This choir is for students in the fifth through eighth grades.  Music knowledge is not necessary but helpful.  All you need is to be able to count and keep the beat.  This choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm starting in October, and performs in worship usually once a month October through May.  This choir gives students an opportunity to play a simple musical instrument with others to present beautiful sounds in worship. These students are then encouraged to continue their ministry in the Hand Bell Choir.

Chimes Director: Carol Bostdorf

PRAISE BAND
This ministry invites those persons who love to lead worship with their voice or musical instrument.  The Praise Band includes (but not limited too) keyboard, guitar (acoustic, electric & bass), drums and vocals.  They lead worship at both worship services on the second and fourth Sundays of each month. Rehearsals are Thursday nights @ 7:00pm in the sanctuary.  On occasion, the Praise Band is sought out as a guest musical group.  They also lead special music services, as well as present a summer outdoor concert.
