Benevolent Support

The Benevolent Support (Shares Of Ministry) is the biggest portion of the Missions' Budget, yet it is very important.  Halifax United Methodist Church is charged by the Susquehanna Conference.  Each local church grade figure is multiplied by the Budget adopted by the Annual Conference for Benevolence, Connectional Ministries and Clergy Support.  This grade figure is calculated each year from the previous year’s local church report to the annual conference.

The Benevolence fund goes to World Service; Africa University; Black College Fund; Conference Program; Neighborhood Center; Home for Children; Health Ministries; Academic Scholarships; UM Colleges in Susquehanna Conference; Parish Development; New Church Development Support; Social Ministries and Multi-Cultural Urban Ministry. 

The Connectional Church Ministries fund goes to Conn Mty Executive Staff Salaries and Support Staff Salaries; Camp Properties; General Administration;  Finance Office Staff Salaries; Dist. Supt. Office Admin.; Workers Comp Insurance; Stewardship Foundation.

The Clergy Support fund goes to Episcopal Fund; Pensions; District Supt. Salaries and Salary Assistance Support.

Without this support spread through the entire conference we would see many of the programs stated above under the Benevolent listing stop or being supported by just a few.
