" The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor.   He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,  to proclaim freedom for the captives, and release from darkness for the prisoners..."  Isaiah 61:1 NIV.

  • Built trusting relationships with clients.
  • Offered prayer and spiritual guidance.
  • Offered 24 hour per day availability for clients' phone  calls.
  • Provided toiletry items as needed.
  • Provided shoes as needed.
  • Provided transportation to Drs. appointments, court hearings, hospitals as needed.
  • Helped with funds to purchase medications as needed.
  • Interacted with City officials, County Drug and Alcohol Services, Mental Health providers, Police, and Pastors as needed.
  • Referred clients to support services.
  • Visited hospitalized clients.
  • Provided transportation to church services at Halifax United Methodist Church.
  • Provided quarterly special events, i.e., Easter Dinner, breakfast, Thanksgiving dinner at one of several locations.

Funding Sought from Other Sources

  • Contributions came in as a result of articles in The Patriot News.  Funds are now exhausted.
  • Halifax United Methodist Church:  Donations of food and volunteers.  Seeking some funding through 2011 Budget; as yet unknown.
  • Millersburg Assembly of God:  Some donations or food, volunteers, and/or vehicles.
  • Some contributions from local businesses.
Future plans:  To begin to serve two meals/week or more, to increase sources of funding through congregational support and other grant applications, and to pursue 501 C-3 non-profit status.  Long term plans would be to purchase and renovate a property in Harrisburg which would serve as a base of operations, short-term shelter, and job skills training facility.
